Protection of Minors Policy

This Protection of Minors Policy (“Policy”) outlines the practices and procedures SocioMee, a social community platform (“SocioMee” or “App” or “Web”) will adhere to in protecting minors (“Minors”) within its App/Web.

Application of this Policy

This Policy applies to the SocioMee, and all associated services and offerings in the App/Web. The Policy should be read in conjunction with the App’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

1. Definitions

  1. “Minors” as used in this Policy refers to individuals under 18 years of age.
  2. “Guardian” as used in this Policy refers to legal guardians or parents of minors.
  3. “Community Policies” as used in this Policy refers to the rules for using the TechMee Inc and its associated services and offerings.

2. Eligibility Requirements

SocioMee will not allow anyone under the age of 12+ to register for an account on the App. To register an account, users must provide personal information verifying their age and we may also seek verification from a guardian to confirm the accuracy of the age information provided. 

If a user is found to be below the minimum age requirements, their account will be terminated.

3. Parent or legal Guardian Consent

SocioMee does not allow Minors to register for an account on the App without the verifiable consent of their parent or legal guardian.

Parents or legal guardians of Minors are responsible for monitoring their child’s use of the App and for any and all text, images, messages or other content contained therein.

4.Safety and Security Measures

SocioMee recognizes the importance of protecting Minors online and takes the following measures to ensure their safety and security while using the App:

  1. Our App uses a secure 128-bit SSL encryption to ensure that your data must be transmitted in a secure manner. 

  2. Our Community Policies strictly prohibit the posting of any sexual, violent or otherwise inappropriate content by users.

  3. We provide parental blocking options for content or users parents or legal guardians believe may be inappropriate. 

  4. We continually monitor the App for any inappropriate content and users who may be in violation of our Community Policies and take immediate corrective action as necessary

At SocioMee, we are fully committed to creating a safe and secure online environment for all users, especially minors. We understand the potential of using digital media and its responsibility to keep minors safe online. Our Protection of Minors Policy seeks to provide guidance to minors and help protect their rights, safety, and privacy.

This Protection of Minors Policy (“Policy”) is designed to ensure SocioMee is compliant with all relevant laws and that our platform is in line with the age and developmental needs of minors. This includes but is not limited to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Electronic Commerce Directive (ECD), the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD), the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD).

It is our priority to ensure a safe and equitable environment for all users on our platform, irrespective of age.

5.1 Age Limit And Parental Consent

The SocioMee platform is intended for minors aged 12 and over. Minors between the ages of 12 and 17 require parental consent to access the platform. No one under the age of 12 is allowed to use the platform.

Parents and guardians may provide explicit consent by acting on behalf of the minor and agreeing to the Platform Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Notice. If parents and/or guardians are not able to provide consent, SocioMee reserves the right to terminate access to the platform.

5.2 Privacy of Minors

SocioMee takes the privacy of minors seriously and will use best efforts to protect the privacy of users of the platform. We understand that minors may not have all the legal rights of adults and thus we will not collect or process sensitive personal data about minors, including any data related to their religious or political beliefs, racial or ethnic origin, physical or mental health, or sexual orientation.

SocioMee also recognizes that minors should have more stringent control over their personal data and we are dedicated to protecting the privacy of minors and their data. We do not collect or share personal-identifying information from minors, including data that would allow online contact with a minor or physical contact with a minor, unless it is necessary for the operation of our services.

Moreover, we do not target minors with any advertising or try to monetize their data in any way.

5.3 Encouraging Safer Interactions

SocioMee promotes safe interactions between minors on the platform. We have strict rules about acceptable content and attitudes, and all users are expected to abide by the Platform Terms and Conditions.

SocioMee also offers safety tools to enable our users to remain safe online, such as tools for blocking and reporting unwanted content or behavior, and ways to disable publicly sharing information. 

5.4 Monitoring And Investigations

SocioMee takes proactive steps to monitor our platform for offensive or inappropriate content. We may investigate matters that we deem are suspicious or in violation of our Platform Terms and Conditions. In such cases, we reserve the right to suspend accounts of minors who are found to have engaged in inappropriate behavior or activities and may inform parents or guardians of the incident.

5.5 Child Sexual Abuse Imagery

SocioMee takes the possible presence of Child Sexual Abuse Imagery (CSAM) on our platform very seriously. We have implemented a Zero Tolerance policy for such content in order to remove it from our platform as soon as possible. 

We have a dedicated team who responds quickly to such reports, evaluates them, and takes appropriate action in compliance with applicable laws.

5.6 Disclaimer

SocioMee is a platform and, as such, we depend on users to abide by our Platform Terms and Conditions and this Policy. Although SocioMee strives to do its best in safeguarding the safety of the minors on our platform, we cannot guarantee the safety or security of minors on the platform. Users should therefore take their own steps to ensure their safety online.

6.1 Age Verification Procedures: SocioMee implements age verification procedures to verify that users of our services are above the age of 13. We also utilize an internal age scoring system to check the identities of users and compare them to publicly available databases to ensure accuracy and integrity of the data provided.

6.2 Protection from Inappropriate Content: SocioMee endeavors to provide a safe environment for minors by implementing sophisticated algorithms to detect and filter out inappropriate content and images on our platform.

6.3 Parental Consent for Minors Under Age 12 : For members below the age of 12, SocioMee requires parental consent for the use of our services. Moreover, we provide processes to ensure that parents or legal guardians are aware of their children’s online activities and have the ability to customize the profile settings to provide additional protection for minors.

6.4 Protection of Personal Data: SocioMee implements technical and organizational measures intended to prevent unauthorized access to the personal data of minors. These measures include encryption, two-factor authentication, access control, and other data protection processes.

6.5 Information to Parents and Minors: SocioMee provides clear information to both parents and minors about the processing of minors’ personal data and the measures taken to protect them. This is achieved through our Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions, and information section of our website.
